Story
From 2009 to 2012, I worked in the United Kingdom as a lettering artist and illustrator under the name Red Balloon Studio. During that time, I worked as a creative freelancer and adult education lecturer. My logo featured a red tethered balloon carrying a ship—something akin to an airship. After Brexit, I returned to Germany in 2022. Following several years of working for the Youth Career Agency in Celle, the turn of the year 2025/2026 marked the point at which I once again considered becoming self-employed. I wanted to pick up the thread that had been interrupted in 2022, and decided to give my brand a subtle evolution rather than a complete reinvention. The ship was replaced by a caravan, home to Colombino, a curious traveler who journeys through the world using both inflatable vehicles and tethered balloons. This new identity feels more vivid, playful, and memorable to me than the original balloon motif alone.Colombino, the character who lives in this caravan, represents freedom and the joy of discovering new horizons. The caravan itself symbolizes mobility and flexibility—qualities that have become increasingly important in today's fast-paced world. It offers the freedom to experience the world from different perspectives, embark on new adventures, and collect stories along the way. The idea that a caravan can become a home wherever it travels is both comforting and inspiring. At the same time, the caravan evokes a sense of nostalgia, recalling the romantic era of travel when the journey itself was just as meaningful as the destination. This philosophy brings fresh energy to my creative work and continues to inspire me to approach every new project with curiosity, imagination, and a genuine passion for exploration.
